Alan Is a friend I met at a youth camp we were volunteering at over 10 years ago. Not only is he an artist with several of the same interests he also shares the same faith as me and a desire to serve and express his love and talent through expressing his faith. Mis with the sessions on Tiktok where he draws live for an audience, and you have someone who makes art which is fun to look at and fun to watch be created

How has your craft developed? started drawing 3D at 3 years old, caught a passion for more art in mid high school. Then drew off and on for a decade and started volunteering at a local high school to build and paint sets for the theater program. Throw in some snow sculptures and carved pumpkins and then started my business in 2019 taking my first commissions. In 2021 I created over 174 pieces of artwork drawing/painting nearly everyday for a Live audience on Tiktok. I gained nearly 50K followers through my art there and have a broad client base through that platform.

what is the best piece of advice a fellow artist gave you?-keep creating - -don't get married to the details too soon in a piece-Always keep your next piece as your favorite piece-As an artist you are a creator not a specialist, don’t let your medium define you.
How do you seek opportunities to share your art?I am on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, as well as in person gallery appearances.8 Where would you like your art to go? Thematically and styleI love portrait art, in that lane I would like to procure commissions in significant Arenas. My style I would say is relatable and personal, I love to capture depths of emotion in my pieces as well as detail. Realism meeting Expressionism I would say is my style.
Do you have any advice for artists who come after you?practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice,And when you think you have arrived, practice some more. Don’t believe your press, it’s never as bad as you think it is or someone else thinks it is, and it’s never as good as your highest praise. Keep a level head. Ask questions of other artists, learn from anyone that you can. Don’t be a gatekeeper, pass on the skills you acquire to generations that follow you. Don’t rely on your feelings alone to motivate you to create. Sometimes it’s sheer discipline and will.
the next question? If you were not an artist, whether a full-time professional or a hobbyist, what would you be doing instead?architecture, counseling, construction, pastoring, computer science , teaching, music,… I’d figure out something.
